Superb Victorian 15ct Gold, Paste and Split Pearl Brooch

This is a superb Victorian 15ct Gold, Paste and Split Pearl brooch. Stamped 15ct. Victorian star brooches, which were very popular in the late 19th Century, symbolised guidance, hope and good luck. The Victorians had a deep fascination with all things celestial and spiritual. They were worn as tokens of protection, representing a desire for direction and a connection to the heavens. Star jewellery was believed to guide the wearer in life. They were frequently worn as protective amulets to keep the wearer safe.

Condition: General light marks, wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Paste with light abrasion. Split pearls have typical surface blemishes and light nacre damage.
